I’ll admit it: I’m a whore for software updates. I’m always the first person I know to buy new OS upgrades. Adobe keeps getting my hard-earned $$ for every Creative Suite upgrade
(at least since CS2, anyway). I spend my evenings with iPhone in hand, clicking on the App Store every so often to see what’s been updated that night. I visit Versiontracker.com almost first thing every morning, and several times throughout the day, to see what’s new. I can’t recall wanting a year to end as much as I did 2008! I mean, did that year just suck ass or what?!
I should have known what the year would hold for me… I spent New Year’s Day evening emptying the contents of my stomach outside of an Applebee’s in Niagara Falls, Canada. (Can’t blame the food here… I had a bug on the drive up there and I could barely eat soup. It was some kind of stomach flu, and it wouldn’t be my first bout of it in 2008). Rudy Ray Moore is dead.
For those who aren’t in the know, Rudy Ray was a raunchy ’60s & ’70s-era comic (known as “king of the party records” back in his day) with a style more rude and explicit than his more-popular peers like Redd Foxx and Richard Pryor. Despite his cult status, he was featured more recently in popular rap tunes from Big Daddy Kane and 2 Live Crew.

I’m a little late on this one and it’s a diversion from my other posts, but did anyone see the news story about the butthead in Jacksonville, Florida who called 911 not once but twice to complain about Subway? (I’m speaking, of course, about the sandwich-making Subway and not the underground one.)
