I rarely get these, but this message on the Tempe DVD YouTube account this morning just proves how such services have only served to train assholes to think that all content should be free.
“Your shit belongs on youtube, not for sale at the ridiculous price of 19.99.”
He’s referring to the trailers posted there, and I guess feels that the movies should be offered for free as well. Has this guy ever heard of Bittorrent? LOL

Update 12/30/09: Thanks to everyone who added TAINTLIGHT to your queues, we finally received a buy on the title from Netflix yesterday so the title should be available from them shortly after the first of the year. You guys are my heroes!
So tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov. 17) is the street date for Tempe’s Splatter Rampage release TAINTLIGHT. It’s the latest horror parody from MULVA: ZOMBIE ASS KICKER! creator Chris Seaver, and as you can tell from the artwork above, it’s a parody of the book/film TWILIGHT
. If you buy your DVDs, it’s available now at Tempevideo.com, Amazon.com
, DeepDiscount.com and all the usual suspects.
If you choose to rent, then unfortunately your options are now quite limited. Here’s why.

OK, with all due respect to those who knew & loved this DJ AM guy when he was alive… am I alone in scratching my head and thinking, “Who the fahrvergnügen is that guy, anyway?!” And he’s just one of an increasingly-long list of “celebrities” that make me feel old every time I log onto MySpace and see their dubious list of “Celebrity Updates” such as the one I screen-snapped this morning (above).

I speak, of course, of the iPhone, and in particular, the great App Store that swung open its doors little more than a year ago. As any iPhone user can attest to, it’s a veritable playground of extra functionality that spoils us with every new release. Sure, other cell phones have had applications in the past (and most of them are scrambling to catch up to Apple even now), but let’s face it… they were kludges at best, and few people really used them as a result. The iPhone is clearly a mini-computer that happens to also make phone calls, and the success of the App Store is a testament to why cell phone carriers are nervous about their own little Berlin Wall that’s coming down now, a few bricks at a time.
But make no mistake, AT&T (aka “the Empire”) is striking back, and it’s going to take some great innovation and technology with it if it’s not careful.

In case you haven’t heard, the classic, underrated 1986 horror comedy NIGHT OF THE CREEPS
is finally coming to DVD in October. Until July 12, Amazon.com is having a neat little thing where customers can vote for which cover art the DVD will have (and entice you to pre-order at the same time
, of course).

There’s been quite a kerfuffle (if I can use that word in a sentence) going on in blog comments and forum threads around the ‘Net this week, since Monday’s Apple WWDC keynote announcing the new iPhone 3Gs model landing on June 19.
And honestly, I just don’t get it.

I don’t often publicly vent about customers who help put food on my table, but this afternoon I got the above e-mail, and I’m pretty steamed about it. Here’s why.

Not sure how this slipped by me, but a flick I produced 8 years ago is resurfacing on DVD this Tuesday… yes, William Shatner lives again in GROOM LAKE
!!
Dear God, make it stop…

Another obit, this time to Circuit City, who today announced they’re giving up the good fight and liquidating the rest of their stores. Sad day for me… since moving back to Ohio from L.A., I’ve been frequenting CC far more than Best Buy, just because they offer some cool stuff the competition doesn’t (like the Archos 5 player). I’m in the market for another DVD storage unit, which I was about to buy for $10 cheaper at Best Buy anyway. Guess I’ll hold off until the bloodbath begins.
Sad days, especially for the 30k employees who will be collecting unemployment soon…

I’ll admit it: I’m a whore for software updates. I’m always the first person I know to buy new OS upgrades. Adobe keeps getting my hard-earned $$ for every Creative Suite upgrade
(at least since CS2, anyway). I spend my evenings with iPhone in hand, clicking on the App Store every so often to see what’s been updated that night. I visit Versiontracker.com almost first thing every morning, and several times throughout the day, to see what’s new. And I get a little tingle whenever I open some piece of freeware or shareware that pops up a notice about a new update, even if the list of changes have nothing to do with me.
But a funny thing has happened recently… I’m starting to skip some of the paid updates.
